WebAug 3, 2011 · Braking below 45mph produces no shaking of the steering wheel. Braking at say 70mph also does not produce shaking. Problem only occurs while braking between 45-60mph. WebAug 1, 2013 · Update - I swapped out the lower control arm bushings with the R32 heavy duty bushings and also swapped out the upper strut mounts and bushings as well. The clunk is gone and braking doesn't "grab" any more! While the upper rubber mounts were squished and worn, I think it was the rear LCA bushing that was causing the problems.
